 Siem Reap Nightlife Bars Clubs
The jewel in the Cambodian crown is the vast temple complex at Angkor, and if you're travelling there, Siem Reap is where you'll be staying - and Pub Street (yes that's its real name) is where you need to be.
Found in the Old Market area, you can't miss it as every building in this street is a bar or restaurant, or both. It's bright and it's brash and doesn't close till around 4.00 am - it's great ! and in a way ideal as it will give you about an hour to freshen up before dragging yourself up to Angkor to see the the sunrise, a truly spectacular way to start the day. |
Most of the bars offer early evening "happy hour" prices, but as value for money goes it's good.
The Red Orchid, Green Mango and the Blarney Stone put on good music most nights, or try the The Ivy Bar which is on the western corner of Old Market. The Red Piano Bar (yes the Tomb Raider cocktail one) is classy, well run and my favourite.
The clubs (I'd try Martini or Zone 1) run through till 4 am, but there's no point in getting there much before 11 pm. Or just hit the Laundry Bar (as I suspect it rarely closes).
For something a bit less touristy, but equally good, head down to Sivatha Blvd.

Bar Street, booze and bars aside for the moment.
Angkor is one of the most beautiful places I have visited. At its height this old Khmer capital must have been outstanding, and even now it has an extraordinary presence about it.
See it before it gets ruined. Don't fly in - catch a boat up from Phnom Penh. Don't go near any of the 5* hotels they've just built, use the small local ones. The food is great, and the hospitality is real. |
