Vientiane has a few clubs, Well, actually let's say ‘discos’, although don't be suprised if most of the music is live. If you've never heard electrified Lao folk music - well, an experience awaits you.
Vienglatry May, on Thanon Lan Xang, is open until midnight and still the most popular place in town. Basically a dance floor, surrounded on three sides by padded sofas and tables, the club features live Lao bands nightly and also serves food, beer and spirits. By 10.30 pm the place is usually packed. Also try Blue Star and Marina, on Thanon Luang Prabang. The Blue Star has the best Lao house band in town, set to a back drop of whirling lights and romantically dark seating areas! |
